Cyborg Summer Project

Our assignment over summer was to design a cyborg. I went ahead and created a rough moodboard, gathering and highlighting ideas I liked.

Here, I did  some quick development sketches, trying to shape what i wanted and how I wanted to create this machine.

I did a drawing initially that I thought would be good, but I felt that there was no life to this character and drawing and that it wasn't going anywhere. So I decided to treat it as a development piece, and took things from it I liked to make my final image better.

This was the final image I created, I was extremely happy with this result, as I felt it captured the motion and energy I wanted in the first place and I liked the color scheme a whole lot more on this iteration.

[Research] The Aztecs

[Initial Aims]

My Initial Aims for this post are to find out about the Aztec civilization. What was their history? What were their revolutionary inventions and what were their design aspects? The Aztec's were an extremely fascinating part of history and I would like to find out just what made them such an influence in modern day society.

[The Aztec Empire]

The Aztec people were not just one group of people, the Aztec empire was actually made up of the whole of Central Mexico ruled by three different allied cities, TenochtitlanTeczcoco and Tlacopan. As the empire expanded, conquered and ruled over many city states. As time passed, Tenochtitlan gained more power and served as the main military power, taking more tributes than their respective allies, but the Aztec emperor did not rule over the conquered city states, they had the cities retain their own local government as this kept the people happy and stable. The empire continued to grow efficiently until 1519 when the Europeans invaded their territory and took over.

[Visual Design] Sci-Fi Spaceship Assignment

For this week's assignment, we were instructed to design a sci fi spaceship over the last two weeks.

These were a few quick sketches I did. I mostly thought about alternating between sharp edges and round objects while going through these.

Using the work of J.C Park as reference, I did a study on the common mechanical cliches used in vehicle design to help gain a better understanding of what makes concept's look more believable.

After thinking about my research and some of the design aspects, I am going to design a sci-fi fighter jet intended for use in snowy terrain on an arctic planet. So I produced a mood board of the various arctic themes along with some fighter jet examples.

I came up with these three designs after looking through my research and thinking about a ship that could hover close to the ground yet move at a fast pace.

I then took my third design because I liked the dynamic of it better, and made a rough sketch model in maya.

This is the final image, I am really happy with how it turned out bit I feel like I could have given it a bit more time to polish up.
